It’s that time of year when we start seeing flu shot promotions almost everywhere. Everyone from your local grocery store to your neighborhood CVS is promoting flu shots. This year, we’re seeing even enticing more incentives in flu shot advertisements. Some of our favorites are:
- CVS promises shoppers free flu shots and 20% off a purchase on the day you get your vaccine
- Safeway is taking 10% off your grocery bill after you get a flu shot
- Target offers a $5 gift after your vaccination
- Giant Food store will give you a coupon book for over $30 in savings once you get your flu shot
And that’s just to name a few! This year’s flu shot campaigns go above and beyond any we’ve seen in the past. It’s great that patients have so many options for this important preventative care. But we know that some patients require their healthcare provider to remind them of the important of preventative care before they will even consider it.
Every year, the flu costs the United States approximately $10.4 billion in hospitalizations and outpatient visits. During flu season, your practice could see an uptick in sick patients – especially if you service children or those over the age of 65. 80-90% of seasonal flu-related deaths occur in people 65 years and older! But we don’t have to tell you. As healthcare provider you know the importance of flu shots to overall patient population health.
However, you also know as a healthcare provider, informing your patients about the importance of flu shots and when and how to get them is an important part of your job this time of year, but can be difficult to manage. The good news, we’ve made it easy for you! We’re happy to execute reminders in email, voice and/or text for you, and with our new message broadcasting tool, you can quickly send a custom email, voice, or text reminder to every single one of your patients in just minutes. It’s really that easy! Watch the video: Contact your patients in under 5 minutes.
